So you know you are installing the right towbar on your Hyundai ix35, we have looked at towing capacity, electrical kits, bumper cuts and more for each variation of Hyundai ix35 below. To determine which variant of Hyundai ix35 you have, check your vehicle logbook. This will ensure you purchase the correct towbar. SUV All variants models made between and have a minimum nose weight of 80 kg and a maximum nose weight of 80 kg. Nose weight is the force on the towball when a caravan or trailer is attached.
Every towbar for every vehicle will have a specific nose weight for that vehicle which can differ between the age of the vehicle and the variation of the model.
Electrical kits connect the electrics in your SUV All variants to the electrics on your trailer, bike rack or caravan so your lights are still visible. We would always recommend having a dedicated electrics kit installed, where possible. Why is a dedicated kit important? Well, not only does it work with the specific features of your vehicle, but it also protects the warranty of your SUV All variants and works with any enhanced safety features you may have.
Of course, you can choose between a dedicated kit or a universal kit, and we do offer both, but a universal electrical kit can affect your manufacturer warranty and you might also need to install a bypass relay. We will alert you as to whether your SUV All variants requires a software update when you choose your towbar electrics kit. Sometimes your vehicle may need a software update to accommodate your new dedicated electrical kit.
Hyundai during its early years was a brand doomed to derision, but no one is laughing now. Previously known as the Tucson, the Hyundai ix35 was another compact family wagon, adopting the new name during to accompany a restyle that also promised plenty of user-friendly advances. The new design was bright, bold and distinctive, albeit derivative, according to Ford.
The air intake, as on the Tucson, was bisected by the bumper but it had grown larger. Whatever its rationale, the ix35 was a pretty vehicle and destined to age gracefully. At introduction, four versions of the ix35 were earmarked for Australia. The ix35 Active models were the only ix35 variants to offer five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission choices, and the only ones with a kW 2.
Next up was the ix35 Elite with a kW 2. It could also be upscaled to a diesel but both versions featured a sumptuous cabin with dual-zone climate control, heated leather seats, a camera feeding images to the multifunction colour screen, rear privacy tinting and an in-cabin CD stacker.
Even the cloth-trimmed ix35 Active still came with an impressive list of features including powered seat adjusters, heated mirrors, keyless entry, steering wheel controls and a rear parking sensor. Other ix35 safety features included front, head and side airbags, and electronic traction and stability control.
The ix35 made itself immediately at home in Hyundai showrooms, selling units in and capturing fourth place in a hotly contested segment during with sales of 11, It also survived for six years with just one minor facelift, helping build buyer confidence in the brand and solid resale values. Series II versions of the ix35 appeared locally in and it took a keen car spotter to pick the external changes. Under the bonnet were two new petrol engines including a revised 2. Manual versions now came with six ratios, matching the automatic, and there was an additional SE variant.
The strong diesel engine makes for relaxed open-road motoring and the car-like monocoque chassis ensures capable handling, even if it's no sports car; the nose pushes wide in tight corners and the steering is short on feel. There's no doubt that the ix35 takes Hyundai upmarket in terms of cabin build quality. It's pretty blingy in places, with lots of silver trim, and there's a lot of unyielding plastic around the dashboard, but it's hard not to be impressed by the car's interior style and ergonomics.
The driving position and passenger seating are pleasingly high, although the high waistline compromises rear-seat visibility. That's the price of high style. Hyundai has certainly come a long way from the "cheap and cheerful" status it enjoyed a decade ago. The ix35 could even be considered something of an "it car" for — Hyundai is now a very strong brand and there's an aura of glamour surrounding its newest model that makes it a genuine rival for the likes of the Toyota RAV4, and even European crossovers like the Volkswagen Tiguan.
But what's that — still not enough towing muscle for you? No drama. Nice to have the choice. See the Hyundai ix35 for sale on Autotrader. Keep up to date with news from Trade-A-boat or like us on Facebook!
